Paparać Kvietka / Fern flower
Installation, 2023
In Belarusian folklore, the fern flower does not exist - and yet everyone knows it. It blooms for a single moment on Kupala Night, granting wisdom and the ability to see the unseen to whoever finds it. To reach it, one must wander alone into the forest, grasp the flower, and resist the terrors of the night without looking back.
This installation reimagines Belarus as that forest. Aluminum flowers, water, sound, light, and masks inhabit a space where ancestral memory, feminine energy, and the weight of living under authoritarianism coexist. The fern blooms. The lake stirs. Something is found - or almost found.
