In Belarusian folklore, the fern flower is a mythical plant known to bloom for a single moment on Kupala Night, granting the ability to see what is hidden. To reach it, one must enter the forest alone and resist fear without turning back. The installation builds a spatial situation based on this structure. Aluminum flowers, water, sound, light, and masks form an environment where elements appear unstable and partially transformed. Developed during a period of living abroad, the work engages with the experience of migration and the search for a sense of home. The unfamiliar landscape contrasts with remembered environments, introducing distance, disorientation, and a persistent pull toward return. The work draws on this condition to construct a space of search and tension, where something may be found, but never fully secured.

PAPARAC KVIETKA, 2023
Sound installation inspired by the mythical fern flower from Belarusian folklore, a symbol associated with hidden knowledge, transformation, and the search for what cannot be found.
The work consists of an aluminium fountain structured around a tree stump surrounded by flowers. Water circulating through the fountain becomes the source of the sound piece: its acoustic patterns are recorded and transformed in Ableton into a continuous composition played within the installa- tion.
The cut tree functions as a reference to rupture, loss, and interrupted continuity. At the same time, the fountain produces sound and movement, suggesting persistence and regeneration. Developed during a period of separation from Belarus, the work reflects on longing for home and the possibility of rebuilding it through memory, myth, and collective imagination.
Aluminium, recycled rubber, motor, tubes, contact microphone, audio equipment. 66x37x66cm.
